With a newly elected government, Borneo Oil Berhad (“BornOil) is looking forward to a more vibrant economy, easier regulations and business friendly atmosphere and a new level and fair playing field for all of local businesses.
BornOil executive director Raymond Teo expressed his hope for and politicians to be reminded of their great responsibilities to ensure there will be less abuses in the years to come.
“The country has gone through a full 60 years cycle under a continuous rule by the BN Government,” he said.
“The original dream was a Malaysia for all but, somehow in the course of the journey, the concept of the eradication of poverty was hijacked by certain dominant elements and from there, abuses were committed or seen to be committed without abatement leading to widespread corruption, very unconducive to businesses,” said Teo.
“As a result, Malaysia became over-regulatedwith rules that were selectively enforced and this has caused great hardship to businesses,” he added.
“1MDB and the events that followed really was the turning point in our history and through this, Pakatan was revived and rejuvenated with the entry of Tun Mahathir and by an act of God, the population has consciously adopted the concept of multi racialism on equal footing,” he further said.
Teo said that current developments are definitely good for business and will eventually led to greater confidence in the behavior of the business community and the public in particular.
“This augurs well for our businesses,” he said.
“Yes, we are very positive of the future and are proud to be a democracy that had a regime change without a single drop of blood shed,” he concluded.
