In light to the Holy Month of Ramadhan, Sustainable Energy Authority Development (SEDA) Malaysia through its “Program Tautan Kasih” CSR programme spread some early festive cheer to 18 orphans from Rumah Anak Yatim Asnaf Baitun Nurrawdhah by sponsoring their Hari Raya clothes at Jakel Mall Kuala Lumpur here yesterday.
SEDA Malaysia’s Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Hamzah Hussin said the Authority allocated RM 20 000 for the orphans aged one to twenty-one years old, and they were given the opportunity to choose their own set of fancied clothing.
“I hope SEDA Malaysia’s contribution will somewhat reduce the financial burden of the Rumah Anak Yatim Asnaf Baitun Nurrawdhah administrators in preparing Raya clothes for the children under their care. We are happy that this small contribution has helped bring more joy to the less fortunate children, with the upcoming Hari Raya celebrations. I am touched to see the excitement in their faces and how their eyes brightened when picking up clothes that they like,” he said.
Each SEDA Malaysia volunteers was tasked with taking care of two or three children and provide assistance when shopping for Raya outfits. The children were excited and enjoyed the shopping experience, as volunteers made sure they got what they wished for, in the right size and preferred colour. The orphans also received a variety of goodies and duit raya accompanied by SEDA Malaysia’s volunteers.
Dato’ Hamzah said the programme under the Program Tautan Kasih initiative was among the several series of corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes planned throughout Ramadhan this year, aimed at giving SEDA the opportunity to contribute to society and share sustenance with the underprivileged.
Also present at the program was Chief Executive Officer of JAKEL, YBhg. Datuk Seri Mohamed Faroz Mohamed Jakel, alongside Chief Operating Officer of JAKEL, YBhg. Datuk Mohamed Nizam Mohamed Jakel, Chairman of Rumah Anak Yatim Asnaf Baitun Nurrawdhah, Puan Hafifah Binti Ismail, and Chief Strategy Officer of SEDA Malaysia, En. Mohammad Nazri Mizayauddin.
The Tautan Kasih Ramadan programme has helped ease the burden of them and definitely brought a smile and joy to the children of Baitun Nurrawdhah, thus renewed sense of hope and positivity, making the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations even more special for them. Other SEDA Malaysia Ramadan activities lined up are the distribution of “bubur lambuk”, Majlis Berbuka Puasa, Tazkirah Ramadan, Tadarus Al-Quran and more. Ramadan is a time of spiritual reflection and giving, and SEDA Malaysia recognizes the importance of giving back to those in need.
