The Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) took a significant step towards enhancing industry visibility and engagement with the inauguration of the MTA+ Borneo Chapter. This milestone marked the second chapter launch under the MTA+ initiative after the first chapter launch in Kelantan in June of that year, aimed at fostering closer connections between MTA, its member companies, leaders, and agents at regional and state levels.

The Association was committed to expanding its outreach efforts across the Takaful industry with the engagement with leaders and agents. The MTA+ initiative was a result of the successful T-Talk sessions conducted by MTA in four regions: East Coast (Kelantan, Pahang, and Terengganu), South (Melaka, Negeri Sembilan & Johor), Northern (Kedah & Pulau Pinang), and Borneo (Sabah & Sarawak).

In light of these developments, industry leaders and stakeholders convened to discuss the future of Takaful in Sabah by expanding the efforts through MTA+ Borneo Chapter. This chapter served as a platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and collaboration among key players in the Takaful industry. The establishment of MTA+, also known as MTA Chapter, is an excellent method for reaching out to the public, fostering communication, and imparting knowledge regarding Islamic Finance, with a particular emphasis on the importance of Takaful.

Through direct outreach to individuals, the organization can elevate awareness levels and disseminate invaluable insights about the advantages and essential nature of Takaful coverage. This, in turn, helps individuals comprehend the significance of safeguarding themselves, their loved ones, and their possessions through Takaful policies.

The Chief Executive Officer of MTA, Encik Mohd Radzuan Mohamed, had said, “The Takaful industry is poised for substantial growth as Sabah, a region renowned for its natural beauty and cultural diversity, emerges as a promising untapped market.” As Sabah continued to embrace Takaful, the industry was poised to contribute significantly to the region’s economic growth, financial stability, and overall prosperity. The core objective of MTA+ was to amplify engagement and visibility of MTA activities and initiatives.

To achieve this, the association envisioned the formation of local chapters, serving as ambassadors representing MTA’s vision in their respective areas. This closer relationship was expected to ignite a Takaful4All movement, while also expediting MTA’s responsiveness to industry-specific matters and localized issues. The official inauguration of the MTA+ Borneo Chapter took place during the MTA T’Talk session with the CEO in Kota Kinabalu on 20 September 2023. This event marked a pivotal moment in MTA’s commitment to strengthening industry ties and furthering its outreach efforts.
