The Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA) has elected Lim Kim Foong (Kim Lim) as its new president. Kim started her term in office with effect from 26 March 2022 and will serve until March 2024.

A breast cancer survivor herself, Kim has been an active member of the BCWA where she would share her experiences as well as extend support and care to the breast cancer community in Malaysia.

Kim enthused, “I am delighted and honoured to be elected as President of this well-established and well-loved organisation that consists of an extremely passionate team with a long history of dedicated donors and partners.

“My goal in leading this organization is to build on the achievements over the past 36 years. I look forward to working with our team to deliver emotional, social, and material support to the breast cancer community in Malaysia, which remains the compass for all that we do,” she said.

“At BCWA, we understand that a breast cancer diagnosis can be emotionally and physically challenging, but patients do not have to travel this path alone. It is important to know that living life to the fullest after a breast cancer diagnosis, including metastatic, is possible.

“There is support beyond treatment to help patients thrive and connect with local programs as well as other breast cancer survivors that can offer encouragement and emotional support.

“I have seen first-hand how great change can come from working with great partners in reducing the risk of premature mortality by providing public education, early detection of breast cancer and navigation of women for further investigations and timely medical treatment.

“Together, as a community of leaders, healthcare providers and business professionals, policymakers, and individuals, we can work to make living life to the fullest after a breast cancer diagnosis for every patient, including metastatic, possible. This vision is what energizes me!” Kim added.

Joining Kim in a diverse and inclusive BCWA executive committee are Naliza Fahro Rozi as Vice President; Sam Sinnan as Treasurer; Swee Lee as Secretary.

Meanwhile, executive committee members comprise: Caryn Low, Cherry Lui, Anne Maheswari Naidu, Sim Wen Yee, Gan Pooi Chan and Wan Nadiah Wan Abdullah Yaakob.
