LGMS Berhad, a leading name in Malaysia’s cybersecurity industry, recently demonstrated what it truly means to be an ‘employer of choice’ by organising an enriching six-day trip for its employees and family members from Nanjing to Shanghai in the People’s Republic of China. The trip, which was conducted in two batches to ensure uninterrupted business operations, offered LGMS team members a rewarding experience while the company maintained its seamless cybersecurity services for clients back home.

LGMS Executive Chairman Fong Choong Fook emphasised that employees are “the backbone of the company’s success.”

“Our people are our greatest asset, and we believe that their dedication and hard work deserve recognition. This trip is one way we can express our gratitude and reinforce LGMS’s strong, supportive culture,” he said.

The journey began in Nanjing, a city renowned for its rich history and stunning cultural landmarks. Employees had the opportunity to explore the historic Nanjing City Wall, a remarkable ancient structure that once protected the city, and the Confucius Temple, where they learned about the teachings and legacy of Confucius. This immersion into China’s cultural heritage provided a meaningful start to the trip and helped the team connect with each other in a unique, historical setting.

The trip continued to Shanghai, a global metropolis known for its modern skyline and vibrant cultural scene. Highlights included visiting The Bund, Shanghai’s iconic waterfront, where employees marvelled at the contrast between colonial-era architecture and the futuristic skyscrapers of Pudong across the river. The group also explored Nanjing Road, a bustling shopping street, further bonding over the sights and experiences.

For LGMS, rewarding employees for their hard work and dedication is part of the company’s ethos of valuing its workforce and fostering a positive, innovative environment. The China trip offered employees a memorable experience – and also the opportunity to recharge, returning to their roles with fresh perspectives that the world is far bigger than their day-to-day routines.

“Experiencing the dynamic landscapes of Nanjing and Shanghai broadened their horizons, encouraging them to bring new ideas and global insights back as they continue to shape the future of cybersecurity, while also enriching their personal experiences,” said Fong.

Today, LGMS stands as one of Malaysia’s foremost cybersecurity companies, known for its extensive cybersecurity services and innovative solutions that cater to businesses of all sizes, including SMEs. The company’s business model focuses on proactive threat management, incident response and vulnerability assessments, helping organisations secure their digital infrastructures in an ever-evolving cyber landscape.

In June this year, LGMS launched StarSentry, a cutting-edge breakthrough cybersecurity solution specifically designed to empower SMEs in strengthening their digital defences and which is spearheaded by subsidiary Applied Security Intelligence Sdn Bhd (ASI). This solution was developed to make cybersecurity accessible to smaller businesses, with features such as advanced vulnerability scanning and proactive threat detection, setting a new standard for cybersecurity with user-friendly features.

LGMS’s dedication to cybersecurity innovation was further highlighted when it received the Cyber Security Product Innovation of the Year award at the CyberDSA 2023, bringing to life the success of its innovative solutions and commitment to cybersecurity excellence.

To further enhance its top and bottom lines, LGMS is implementing a transformation strategy that includes automating services like StarSentry.

“This approach allows us to free up our cybersecurity experts for more complex projects, focusing on retaining high-value clients and increasing upselling opportunities,” said Fong, adding that the company plans to expand its workforce from 150 to 200 employees sometime early next year.

Fong said that LGMS thrives on a ‘culture of innovation’,  one which is embedded in every aspect of the business.

“By investing in our people and driving a culture that values innovation and employee well-being, LGMS continues to solidify our strong position as the leader in Malaysia’s cybersecurity industry,” he added.

This recent employee trip from Nanjing to Shanghai reflects the company’s belief in nurturing a dedicated and engaged workforce — one that is equipped, motivated and ready to tackle the cybersecurity challenges of tomorrow.
